Worst week ever

By maecuff ·
Okay. This is a blatant cry for sympathy from my imaginary friends...

Last Wednesday, I woke up in the middle of the night with a fever. I went to the urgent care the next day and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and a kidney infection. I was still running a fever on Friday, so I went to my regular doctor. She gave me a shot of antibiotic, a new prescription and told me to go to the er if I still had pain in my sides. I did. So, I went to the ER for a cat scan. It came back fine and I was infection free, but I still felt terrible. By Tuesday, I was bright red and swollen from head to toe, so back to the emergency room to deal with the allergic reaction I was having to the new antibiotic. They gave me Prednisone. Was back in the doctor's office yesterday with severe back pain. She took me off the Prednisone and told me to call back if I had any more symptoms.

Well..NOW all my joints are swollen. I can't use my left hand. I feel like I have broken glass in my wrists, knees, ankles and elbows. My face is swollen and I look like a pumpkin. She wants to give me something else to alleviate the fluid retention, but at this point, I'm afraid to take anything else. Except for the painkillers. The painkillers are my only friend at this point.

And I'm at work today. I can move my fingers to type, but am thinking that any code I write today might produce unpredictable results.

Instead, I think I'll just try to look busy and feel sorry for myself until 5:00.

Oh, and I can't wear makeup. I can't grip the brushes. So, I have a swollen, makeupless face.

So..in order to get through this day, I need help. Tell me something funny. Tell me that you've gone through the same thing and got better in no time. Tell me that even though I have a pumpkin head, I still look amazingly hot..

:)

give this another try

by jdclyde In reply to global joke

* What did one jack-o-lantern say to the other?
Cut it out!
* What is a pumpkin's favorite sport?
Squash
* Why do jack-o-lanterns have stupid smiles on their faces?
You'd have a stupid smile, too, if you had just had all your brains scooped out!
* What's the ratio of a pumpkin's circumference to its diameter?
Pumpkin Pi (3.1428571428571428571428571428571)
* What do you get when you cross a snowman and a vampire?
Frostbite!
* How do you repair a broken Jack-o-lantern?
Buy a pumpkin patch!
* Why do pumpkins never quarrel?
Because they have no stomach for fighting.

John, a city slicker from Boston, bought a pumpkin patch. He thought that he could make more money from chickens than the previous owner made from pumpkins, so he went to a poultry farm and bought 50 chickens.

'50 is a lot of chickens for that little pumpkin patch,' commented the proprietor. 'I am used to big business' John replied.'

A week later John was back at the farm. 'I need another 50 chickens,' he said. 'Boy, you are serious about this chicken farming,' the poultry farmer told him.

'Oh yes,' John replied. 'It' will be Ok if I can just iron out a few problems.' 'Problems?', asked the farmer. 'Yeah,' replied the John, 'I think I planted that first batch too close together.'

Why Pumpkins Are Better Than Men?
From the start you know a pumpkin has an empty head.

Amazing!

by w2ktechman In reply to Worst week ever

that you think imaginary friends can answer the questions posted! You might think to actually consult them in your own mind than on the Internet!
Now for the question -- Why are you at Work (yes, I used that nasty -- evil word)??? And, why has your manager not sent you home???

Unpredictable Results in code, you are probably correct. Has any monitors suddenly become possessed and killed anyone in the office yet? Please inform us if that happen, and send the security video's of it.

No, I cannot tell you that I have been through it. This is a Mae issue, not a W2k issue. However, that red glow that you have may be a little 'hot' to someone out there. But then again, some people dream of blue and green aliens, so there are weirdo's out there. Who knows though, maybe there is someone that puts a pumpkin for a head on their **** up doll or something :0

Question?

by w2ktechman In reply to Worst week ever

Is this problem due to it being Friday the 13th? Are the Demons inside Mae just retaliating for being oppressed by Mae for so long???

I don't think so..

by maecuff In reply to Question?

but, who knows.

You know, I got married on Friday the 13th once. It didn't work out.

I may have inadvertently stolen your good luck. I got married on a Friday the 13th back in 1978, still married. :-)

Hope you feel better soon Mae.

Try this

by GSG In reply to Worst week ever

Take Benadryl. This will help with the swelling if it's caused by allergic reaction. Also, the general protocol in the ER for Allergic reactions is to also give Zantac, Pepcid, Prevacid, etc... So get some OTC Pepcid or Zantac and take that as well. Yes, it's for Acid Reflux, but it has an ingredient that will help stop the allergic reactions. You may have to do several doses of this.

Prednisone will make you swell up and retain water. Cranberry juice is a natural diuretic, so get some of that and start drinking, and that may help with the fluid retention.

Good Luck!

I've been

drinking cranberry juice. I'm trying to not take ANY more drugs right now. I just want everything to work its way out ad see if that will clear everything up.

Except the painkillers. I'm not giving them up quite yet. They help with the whole 'feeling like I have broken glass under my skin' thing.

Are those

big chunks of broken glass, or tiny shavings?

Both

It's getting better, though. The swelling really isn't getting any better, but it doesn't hurt as much right now.
