What are you using for email?

Don't worry about the blue files. Windows does that to show you which files are older and could potentially be compressed to save space.

But, to fix your email problems, we need to know what you're using for email? Outlook? If so, what version? Outlook Express? If so, what version? Another program?

I'm not to sure of the issue but the blue files sound like compression has been turned on which I have seen Norton do to files. Simply right click the file and turn it off. Also for the slow down I would look at the Norton settings to see if there is some kind of filtering feature that you can exclude excel or any other office app from being scanned every time you run them. I know Norton does have this feature but it depends on your version as far as where it is located in the app. My ultimate suggestion would be dump Norton and go with either Mcafee or CA's eTrust. Norton can some times be just as bad as a Hope this helps. :-)
