At HPE Discover 2017 in Las Vegas on Monday, the firm unveiled its 10th-generation ProLiant servers, which it called the "world's most secure industry standard servers." According to a press release, HPE utilizes silicon-based security in its platforms, as a means of addressing firmware issues.

The servers will work in tandem with other updates as part of HPE's Synergy composable infrastructure. Synergy, the release said, will work to boost app delivery in both standard DevOps environments as well as those that are cloud-native.

In addition to the new security-focused servers, HPE also introduced new compute modules and storage efforts.

HPE's Synergy 480 and 660 Gen10 compute modules were also unveiled as a means of improving workload performance. Workloads that require extra compute power, or those that may be data-intensive, have both been accounted for. One example given in the release were workloads used for financial modeling.

Users could also see a performance increase in networking, as HPE Synergy offers Ethernet 25/50Gb connectivity with 100Gb uplinks, and "a 25% increase in direct-attached storage (DAS) capacity," the release noted.

IT administrators will be able to more quickly provision storage through Synergy, because of its composable nature. Customers will have the option of running SAN, DAS, or software-defined storage through HPE Synergy Composer or HPE OneView templates, the release said.

HPE's Synergy modular approach to architecture was first announced in December 2015. Since then, the platform and idea have grown in popularity, and will likely be key to HPE's strategy as enterprise IT moves increasingly toward DevOps and agile methodologies.
