Mac slow to connect to wifi after boot

My mac has started doing this weird thing after I turn it on from a complete shut down. It won’t connect to the internet for about two minutes.

Some websites like Google work. So I can search for something, but when I click on most results it says there’s not internet connection available?

    Any ideas?

Full model, year, which Apple OS may matter. Our usual test is to try it wired. But given so little about the machine, your ISP and network I’ll pause here.

Well, first solution to try in such cases is simply to restart your router/modem. Just plug it out off power socket and plug back in in 5-10 seconds. Wait for everything to reconnect, see if that worked.
If it didn’t, I’d play the hunch and say that your ISP (Internet Service provider) is at fault. Contact them and hear what they have to tell.

not to scare you, but have you checked to see if it has malware. It’s not carte blanche but sometimes devices slow down and start doing silly things when someone has planted malware on them. If it’s a business computer get your IT people to check it out.
      Good luck with it.

None of my Apple owned friends have found a virus or malware.

Nod to Malwarebytes but let’s give an upvote here to those that told us to reboot the router/modems.

      Mac Slow to Connect WIfi

      by jenniemiller ·

In reply to Mac slow to connect to wifi after boot

Solution: Reset Wi-Fi Router and Restart Mac Wi-Fi Connection
One of the first solutions to slow Mac Wi-Fi is to first restart your Mac’s Wi-Fi connection. This can be easily done by disconnecting it from the wireless network.

To do this, click on Wi-Fi menu bar > select Turn Wi-Fi Off > Turn off Bluetooth adapters on your MacBook > Restart your MacBook and try to reconnect.

If the problem remains unsolved, you should consider either rebooting or resetting your W-Fi router. This is because though the slow Wi-Fi on Mac has been pinned to occur after an upgrade to Sierra OS, it does not necessarily mean that it would be the sole cause of a slow Wi-Fi. The fault might also be from the Wireless router supplying Internet access. Hence, it is advisable to first reboot your router by simply unplugging the adapter for a few minutes and plug it back. If the problem persists, you can then opt to reset your Router by locating a red “reset” button usually located at the rear end of the router and pushing the button.
