Does a SSD having no DRAM matter when putting it in a PS4?

By Tr4405 ·
I know that when transferring or downloading large files that I can slow down a lot. I got a SSD that locks to about 240 MB/s since the ps4 is SATA II. I play a lot of open world games. Will the game loading in assets from my SSD slow down the speeds?

In short, I have NEVER seen any SSD in the past decade be slower than common HDDs such as used in the PS4.

My answer to your last question is the SSD, even the cheapest one today will outperform what HDDs you find in the PS4.

Basically I’ve seen SATA II systems bottleneck it to about 240 MB/s. How slow do you think it would be while playing an open world game?

The usual speed difference has been discussed.

I can only offer that in decades I've NEVER seen a stock HDD beat any SSD.

As to bottleneck, the HDD would have the same limitation so I can't guess what information you need here.
