Firewall Protection Needed

By parthiv_13 ·
Norton Internet Security 2003, AntiVir, GriSoft are installed on my PC with WinXP pro.

I have Ethernet Cablenet of 64kbps speed. Now someone is attacking on Local Network which is detected by my Firewall. The details are as follows: Attacker's IP mask (IP and Mask are Invalid range). Now its utilising some UDP. It triggers attacks after every 10-15 minutes. So I have traced its incoming packets by utilising sniffer and got its MAC address with port 137.

Now my question is how to minimise this things ? How to STOP this attacks ? How to trace the person with this IP and MAC?

Quick reply will be appeciated.

Thank you in advance.

And please suggest other firewall which can work with Norton in parallel.

Follow this link:
here you can download a very powerful OS for find who is behind the attack.
Also you can find some utilities for prevent future attacks.

Personally, I do not understand why you are trying to run 2 anti-virus programs at the same time ! Both come with warnings about problems running 2 AV programs together. Shut 1 down and see if the "attacks" stop, if so you are the attacker.

Win does not care for 3rd party software, let alone trying to run 2 at the same time.

Most security software that has the same functions does not like working 'in parallel'. You would be better-off running only one software firewall and one antivirus software.

It appears the Norton Internet Security has both firewall and antivirus; so if you are going to keep Norton you need to scrap the others.

If rather, you would like to ditch Norton and try something else, this would be my suggestion.

Free software firewalls-

Free antivirus solution-

The surest fix would be to purchase a hardware firewall to connect between the Ethernet and your computer.
