I am having problems with the printer

It is telling me there is no cartridge or that it is stuck. I can't figure out how to fix it unless I break the dern thing. Any suggestions?

knowing what model/make of printer would be a big help here, however if it is an inkjet printer, you may need a new head/seat for the carts to sit in...if it is a laser printer, you may have a broken sensor somewhere (same could hold true for the inkjet...honestly, if it was a low end inkjet, it may be just as better/cheaper to buy a new one

Make model of printer?

Clean the contacts of the cartridge and the print head where the cartridge makes contact.

Replace the cartridge with a known-good brand name cartridge.

If the above does not work, then most likely the ribbon cable connecting the head assembly is damaged or needs to be re-seated, which involves some printer disassembly on most devices.

If there is no mechanical fault, a false head-jam issue could be a faulty/dirty sensor, or an issue with the head or it's ribbon cable, depending on the printer model.
