Is Windows 7 a genuine improvement on XP Pro

By gorman.mi ·
Now that Windows7 has been deployed for a while out in corporate land, has your IT Support, Development, Usage revealed it to be a genuine evolutionary improvement on Good old XP, or is it just a change-for-profit-sake strategy from Microsoft? Personally I have not really enjoyed the changes, I recall seeing the Microsoft 'seminar' back when it was being released, they were drawing comparisons of what technologies were current when XP was developed, and yes it seemed a long time ago. BUT XP did not stay still did releases and service packs kept it operational and relevant. The main thing I noticed with Win7 was that things no-longer actually worked anymore-adding printers was a pain for Networked users, installing software was a nightmare with the permissions configuration of Win7. I still think XP Pro SP2 is a heck of a lot better generally speaking than Windows7 from an IT Support perspective-what are your experiences?
