Media Bias - one of my Pet Peeves - and a journalist who agrees

By maxwell edison ·
Only the uninformed or those with their heads in the sand won't admit that there is - and has been - a left-leaning, Democrat favoring, liberal preferring dominant media in America - CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, Time, Newsweek, the Washington Post, the New York Times, AP, et al.

Now, some of their own are even admitting it - and calling it shameless is mild; it's down-right dangerous, and it threatens our free society (or what's left of it).**88

If the dominant media in America had covered this election fairly, thoroughly, and accurately, instead of focusing on the tingles going up their collective legs when Obama speaks, there'd be a landslide, alright - a McCain landslide.

The Last Honest Reporter

I'm glad you brought this up, Max.
Here's another addition in defense of your argument:

"Would the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights?"

If American Journalists had been as honest and fair as they like to think (and tell us) they are, why has it taken so long for the following interview to come to light?

. a way, it adds another twist to my earlier warning:

Okay, as we have discussed this numerous times already

While I agree that there is a sick degree of media bias, one that perpetuates war and wrongly defames political figures, it goes without saying that SOME of the stations you have mentioned, not all, are actually owned by the right wing, SBG.

I won't go down that route of dragging names out again, links to their affiliation etc. You've seen it before and either read or decided to ignore it in the past.

But I digress, while I agree most are very left leaning, others are right wing owned and encourage radical left wing reports in order to remove credibility from the left by offering up sensational stories which are quickly and rightly corrected by the right.

Its like playing both sides, a report from the left to raise suspicion of the right, the right then discounts it with facts and makes the left look radical and ridiculous.

Does the left do it themselves? All too often.

But SBG is in there like a dirty shirt too, fueling the flames of scandalous BS.

Media ownership and media reporting are not related

by maxwell edison In reply to Okay, as we have discusse ...

You've said it before that corporations are right-leaning (which could be challenged, itself), so reporting is not biased to the left? I dismiss that notion entirely. If you think for a minute that the ownership of media conglomerates dictate what's reported and how, I'd like you to make the correlation and provide proof.

Corporate cares about one thing - bottom line. There's no way the people in the corporate boardroom have anything at all to do with the reporter in the field, the journalist behind the keyboard, the editor in the cutting room, or the anchor in front of the camera. The two are simply not related - no way, shape, or form.

I am not saying they are

That wasn't my comment at all, but it really isn't a topic of interest to me as it is like discussing religion. I understand the media and the corruption and backward twisting that's involved quite well first hand, and it is a two sided coin.

If all you see is heads, then keep betting on heads and you'll always be a winner.

I'm not so sure about that.

Media do not have a political bias, they have a money bias. Bad news sells. Media are going to support what they think will make them more money. Do the opposite of what they tell you :)

CNN, as one example, was pretty darn hawkish when Bush invaded Iraq, but changed its tune when public opinion went the other way.

Its funny I didn't hear any complaints from the right when the media dug in on Clinton during the whole sex scandal issue.

I totally agree that the media's first goal is to make money, and they will naturally go after the governing party and the President because thats a bigger story, which attracts more viewers which makes more money.
