Printer Slowing down.

By patb071 ·
We have an HP laserJet 4515, purchased about a year ago. The printer user to spit the pages out pretty fast. Now it prints slower. The job reaches the printer fast but printing say 100 pages takes longer. How can i get this thing to print fast again, or what can be causing it to slow down? It has printer 194,000 pages

Could be many things

by robo_dev In reply to Printer Slowing down.

Power supply getting sketchy, drive motor getting weak, excessive paper dust in the gears and bearings. Toner heater element not getting hot enough.

This could cost thousands to troubleshoot and repair, yet hundreds to simply buy a new printer.

If your life depended on it, and money grew on trees, then:

a) clean unit very well (be sure to use a toner-vacuum to be safe).

b) re-lubricate gears, bearings, etc.

c) replace main drive motor and/or power supply.

d) replace other worn parts, such as rollers, pickup pads, sensors, etc.

e) replace toner cartridge with brand-new HP-brand cartridge.

f) perform more in-depth testing to make sure that printer is gripping paper properly, rollers are not slipping, etc.
