You can still get a free Windows 10 upgrade

By tcavadias Staff ·
Microsoft's much-hyped free upgrade offer for Windows 10 ended in 2016, right? Not exactly. ZDNet's Contributor Ed Bott states, the GWX tool may be gone, but all the other upgrade tools still work. The end result is an apparently valid digital license, and there's no evidence that the free upgrades will end any time soon.

Looking a gift horse in the mouth

With this 'free' path (nothing really is - privacy and control) is this build for Win10 the most current? Or will this route require hundreds of MB's of updates and hours of time with multiple reboots before the workstation is stable enough for productive use?

Windows 10

by dineshramgaikwad In reply to You can still get a free ...

There has always been Windows 10 available at no cost, to upgrade from previous Windows or to do a Clean Install. You will need a Windows 7, or 8 product Key to activate. https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

Adding the updated link , as just used it on my CITRIX VDI

True. Even I have tried that.

Some users claim that you’re still able to upgrade to Windows 10, as long as you have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 running on your PC. Bear in mind that you’ll need to run a genuine copy on your PC in order for this process to work.

In addition to the genuine copy of Windows, it’s also a good idea to have your product key available since you might need it to activate Windows 10.

If you don’t have the original Windows DVD with the product key available, you can get the product key from your PC by using NirSoft’s ProduKey software.

Windows update is always free of cost.

by stevemor97 In reply to You can still get a free ...

Microsoft has stopped given the windows update in 2016 but there are various methods,I will let you know.
Getting windows update free if you are not getting officially you can easily update through many mediums.Getting windows update is easy and availble through many resources.
If you're running the tool on a different PC, or if you just want more flexibility, choose the second option and save the installation files to a USB drive or as an ISO file.

USB for windows installation

by tomhamer0161 In reply to USB

You can use any USB to store and install windows 10, you just need to have enough storage on the USB at least 16GB store the installation and then you will be able to install windows 10 with no problem.
You can also download the installation from the Microsoft official website they have it there updated.

pleasure to help you :) Tom Hamer
