mjackman's Profile
Michael Jackman is a Louisville, Ky.-based writer, writing instructor and consultant, and radio commentator. He was born in New York City and has called Louisville home since 1992. (For more info see mjfreelancer.com). \ \
For more than three and a half years he has broadcast what one fan calls \"thoughtful/soulful/smartass work\" on Ky. Public Radio Stations, lately through Mountain State Public Radio. He also produces weekly tech news podcasts for TechProGuild.
\ \In June 2005 Michael received a Louisville Society of Professional Journalist award for his column Technicalities, an irreverent weekly column on \"the bewildering effects of high tech on our lives.\"
\ \His freelance beats include features, the arts, the outdoors, computers, and Jewish living. Articles on these subjects have appeared nationally and internationally.
\ \Jackman earned an MA in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Louisville, where he was a student of acclaimed novelist Sena Naslund. He teaches writing courses at Indiana Univ. Southeast and at Spalding Univ.; he also conducts writers workshops such as the annual Snug Hollow Writers Workshop and Retreat, and gives adult classes.
\ \From April to May 2000, while an editor at dot-com startup TechRepublic.com, he trekked in Nepal with then editor/pal David Bard. That they risked their lives as part of a dot-com marketing stunt called \"AlmostEverest\" was only fitting. After all, it was their idea.
\ \ Jackman is president of Rudi Mentory Productions, a production company and booking agency. For more information, contact Michael Jackman at mjackman@mjfreelancer.com. \1999
