Nikon Small World's categories of photos through the microscope

Creepy Bugs and Insect Inventions #1

Nikon Small World has put together a number of themed photo groups from the winners of this year's photomicrography contest.

The "Creepy Bugs and Insect Inventions" category shows creepy looking bugs - especially in extreme close-up - as well as the things they make. Here is a Protzia eximia (water mite), ventral view (10X) - Confocal.

This photo, which also appears in the "What Are You Swimming With category," was taken by Dr. Jan Michels - Institute of Zoology, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in Kiel, Germany
