Cloud Backend Service Startup Provides Springboard for Korean Game-App Entrepreneurs
To support Korea’s booming game app-development industry, cloud-computing specialists, APEX PLATFORM, wanted to create a comprehensive, all-in-one, Gaming Backend-as-a-Service (GBaaS) offering. After developing its mixed Windows-Linux GBaaS platform using Amazon Web Services, APEX PLATFORM switched to Microsoft Azure. This switch enabled APEX PLATFORM to sustain a zero startup cost model for new game developers, and provide a natural home for the GBaaS platform, which was built using Apache Tomcat and a NoSQL database. In September 2013, the Korean company APEX CNS, a supercomputing and cloud-services company, decided there was a market for a providing a consolidated offering to these games developers.
