EcoCash is a mobile money service launched in October 2011 by Zimbabwe mobile provider Econet wireless. Their challenges are to increase service adoption and revenue growth among current subscribers and expand service offering to competitive regional markets. They chose Cisco to overcome these challenges. They have implemented consumer mobile money service offering person-to-person money transfers, banking services and international remittances and recently launched mobile payment service, including retailer Point Of Sale (POS) solution. The results of implementing Cisco were more than three million subscribers since launch in October 2011, processed US$1.1 billion worth of transactions in first half of 2013 and total transaction volumes reach US$2.2 billion.
