"The city of San Jose is the third largest city in the state of California. San Jose was among one of the first cities in the country to deploy a metro Wi-Fi network based on 802.11b/g technology. Their challenges are ultra high-capacity, high-speed dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, ability to deploy Wi-Fi APs without pulling Ethernet or trenching fiber and light weight, unobtrusive AP design powered by photocell adapters. They chose Ruckus to overcome these challenges. They have implemented Ruckus ZoneFlex 7982 indoor APs, ZoneFlex 7762 outdoor mesh APs, ZoneFlex 7731 P-T-M-P bridges, FlexMaster Wi-Fi management and Redundant ZoneDirector 5000s. The results of implementing Ruckus were reduced CAPEX from higher capacity also reduced OPEX from Smart Meshing and easy and cost-effective configuration and installation."
