At Lake Land College, the vision is as vast as the Great Plains across which the five-location institution sprawls. For nearly a decade, the community college has positioned itself as a technology leader, in both curriculum and operation. Their challenges are to support remote locations without adding IT staff and satisfy end users' rising computing demands. They chose VMware to overcome these challenges. They have implemented VMware desktop virtualization and consolidate servers (5:1). The results of implementing VMware were extend technology refresh cycle, slash energy costs, bolster student engagement and recruitment, it support faculty innovation and mobility, improve backup and recovery functions, shift IT focus from repair/configure/backup to global and enhance college's green leadership reputation.
