Social Media Policy
The use of social media to promote company business, provide customers with announcements and information, present upcoming milestone dates, and otherwise interact with the public is now commonplace among organizations. From the smallest one-person shop to the largest multinational corporation, almost every company striving to turn a profit has a social media presence.
The purpose of this Social Media Policy, written by Scott Matteson for TechRepublic Premium, is to establish guidelines employees should follow for all online communications.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYEES UTILIZING COMPANY-OWNED SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS
Company social media accounts are to be utilized for the purpose of company business only. Non-business matters must not be discussed or commented upon, and only people/companies related to company operations should be followed or associated with.
Associates are encouraged to use the following guidelines in social media interactions:
Be relevant to your area of expertise.
Do not be anonymous.
Maintain professionalism, honesty, and respect for other participants at all times.
Apply a ‘good judgment’ test for every social media activity related to this organization: Could you be guilty of leaking information, trade secrets, customer data, or upcoming announcements? Is it negative commentary regarding the company? Avoid either category at all costs.
Activity showing good judgment would include statements of fact about this organization and its products and services, facts about already-public information, or information previously published on the company website.
