In this paper, the two largest government hospitals have at least one amputation related surgery per day. However, not all amputees use prosthesis because of inconvenience brought about by the weight and high cost of about USD 100,000. Myoelectric technology uses sensitive electrodes to read activity in specific muscle groups and send signals to processing units that employ a specific function in electric motors in the prostheses. Myoelectric prostheses are often used to effectively treat upper limb amputations. For this study, focus will be given on transracial or below the elbow prosthesis.
