The evolution of wireless telephone technologies can be discretely grouped into various generations based on the level of maturity of the underlying technology. The wireless industry is busy with the standardization of the 4th generation cellular networks. However, it represents a perspective which is commonly agreed upon, both by industry and academia, and hence conceived to be an unwritten standard. The 4G wireless system cannot be implemented without any standardization 4G LTE is one of several competing 4G standards along with Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) and WiMAX (IEEE 802.16).
