In wireless sensor networks, the protocols with minimum energy path deprives the nodes energy quickly and the time taken to determine an alternate path increases. Further, the energy hole problem reduces the lifetime of the network and results in wastage of more energy of the nodes. In this paper, the authors propose to develop a cluster based multi path routing protocol for energy conservation in wireless sensor networks. It includes three phases such as cluster construction, inter-cluster multipath route establishment, cluster reconstruction and alternate path selection. By simulation results, they show that the proposed approach achieves better throughput, packet delivery ratio with reduced energy consumption and delay.
