A Comparative Study of Rate Matching and IG-MAC Schemes in Multi-Rate Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks face certain challenges such as mobility, scalability, time varying topology, hidden and exposed terminal problem, etc. This paper addresses the issue of hidden terminal problem. This problem occurs in MANETs due to its multi-hop nature. The transmitting nodes which are out of transmission range of each other but within the transmission range of common receiver act as hidden nodes. The problem is alleviated by IEEE 802.11 protocol, which uses RTS/CTS control signals.
