A Comparative Study on Wireless Standards: IEEE 802.11,802.15.1,802.15.4

In this paper, the authors are concentrating on the three wireless protocol standards IEEE 802.11 (WLAN), IEEE 802.15.1 (WPAN), IEEE 802.15.4 (LR-WPAN), describing their important features in terms of various factors. They present the comparative study on these standards, which would benefit students, researchers and engineers in selecting an appropriate standard. Wireless technologies are used to increase the productivity, improving safety, convenience, reliability and less system cost. The key design requirement of developing wireless standards is low power consumption, which is used for short coverage communication.
