"A Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) is a self-organizing, infrastructure-less, multi-hop network. Security is a major issue in such networks. In this paper, a simple encryption scheme that uses masking has been proposed to secure these types of network. Message is encrypted with the key, which is generated using the contents of the message itself. Message is then split into different shares using masks. Selection of masks is done in such a way that the reconstructed message at the receiver end can be easily verified for its integrity. This scheme can be implemented in devices which have low end processing capabilities and limited power resources."
