The nature of the threats posed by Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on large networks, such as the Internet, demands effective detection and response methods. The power of a DDoS attack is amplified and the problem of defense is made more complicated. The impact of DDoS attacks can vary from minor inconvenience to users of a Web site to serious financial losses for companies that rely on their online availability to do business. In this paper, the author's address the problem of DDoS attacks and present the theoretical foundation, architecture, and algorithms for the distributed architecture and, this architecture consists of the multiple Internet Prevention Systems (IPSs) located at the Internet service Providers (ISPs).
