A Hypervisor Based Security Testbed

The authors are developing an experimental testbed intended to help support security research. The testbed allows a network of unmodified hosts to be subjected to security attacks in a controlled, observable, and reproducible manner using hypervisor technology. The two most notable characteristics of their testbed are the use of a Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM, aka hypervisor) as a tool for gathering information over an entire heterogeneous LAN, and a highly generalized infrastructure for the description, measurement, and analysis of experiments.
