In this paper a coplanar waveguide fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna with U slot at 40 GHz is designed and simulated. Simulated results are presented by using Ansoft HFSS 13 software, a full wave electromagnetic field simulator for arbitrary 3D volumetric passive device modeling that takes advantage of the familiar Microsoft Windows graphical user interface. The patch element is been placed on FR4 Epoxy substrate with relative permittivity 4.4 at a height of 1.8 mm. The gain of the proposed antenna is 5dB.This antenna is small size, cheap, compact, easy to fabricate, achieve return loss of -17.8dB at 40GHz which ranges to -25 dB at 10 0GHz and good VSWR.
