A New Evolutionary Approach for Gateway Placement in Wireless Mesh Networks

In this paper, the authors study the challenging problem of optimizing gateway placement for throughput in Wireless Mesh Networks and propose a novel algorithm based on Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) for it. By generating the locations of gateway randomly and independently, they calculate the fitness value of each scheme, and update them step by step with the best method to quickly find the optimal scheme and achieve better than previous studies. A Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a communication network made up of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology, which often consists of mesh clients, mesh routers and gateways.
