A Path Tracking Algorithm Using the IEEE 802.11 Infrastructure
The authors propose a new indoor tracking method which can be used on mobile nodes. Their method uses only the received signal strengths as input information and does not require a cinematic motion model to track the mobile node. The authors discuss in detail the features of the authors' approach and its resulting algorithm. They evaluate the performances of their algorithm using a real signal map. Over the last decade, there has been a tremendous growth in the development of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). This proliferation has contributed to an increasing interest in developing location aware technologies, i.e. devices capable of locating themselves, and, in turn, providing location aware services.
