Relayed transmission in a Cognitive Radio (CR) environment increases the coverage area and capacity of the communication system. There are many types of cooperative communications, Amplify And Forward (AAF) and Decode And Forward (DAF). Adaptive Relaying Protocol (ARP) is used here to overcome the disadvantages of AAF and DAF. In this paper, the authors are mainly focusing on the joint power allocation in a cognitive radio system in a cooperative mode that operates ARP in a multi-carrier mode, the multi-carrier scenario is used in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) mode and problem is formulated to maximize the end-to-end rate by providing the best power allocation at the transmitters.
