Recently, the IEEE 802.16 standard, also known as Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), has emerged as the strongest contender for broad band wireless technology with promises to offer guaranteed QoS (Quality of Service) to wireless application users. The IEEE 802.16 standard provides broadband wireless access that depends on wireless medium which has higher packet error rate and higher packet overheads that altogether limit the capacity of the network to offer guaranteed QoS. WiMAX to provide high-speed access to the Internet where the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is the core transport protocol.
