Security has become a primary concern in order to provide protected communication between mobile nodes in a hostile environment. Unique characteristics of Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANET) pose a number of nontrivial challenges to security design, such as open peer-to-peer network architecture, shared wireless medium, stringent resource constraints, and highly dynamic network topology. This makes MANET vulnerable to various attacks; packet dropping attack is one of the possible attacks. It is very hard to detect and prevent it. To prevent from packet dropping attack, detection of misbehavior links and selfish nodes plays a vital role in MANETs.
