Dense wavelength division multiplexing systems allow much greater bandwidth. Telecommunication companies have found some technologies to help respond to a growing array of customer demands, including streaming video, which require large amounts of bandwidth to create transmissions in real time. DWDM allows such transmissions by virtually splitting the fibers 'capabilities into more than two carriers. MIMO wireless technology in combination with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing is an attractive air-interface solution for next-generation Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) and fourth generation mobile communication system.
