In this paper, the authors propose a novel time-domain Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) estimator based on the preamble consisting of two identical training sequences, which could considerably alleviate the computational complexity of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Both the data in Cyclic Prefix (CP) behind the fixed point after coarse synchronizing and the antimere in training sequences are exploited to estimate the noise variance in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) packets. Four corresponding points from two sequences are utilized to offset the error.
