The asynchronous wireless mesh solutions cannot solve interference issues among multi-hop links and have a big scalability problem that the network throughput would be deteriorated with more hops. To solve the problem, the authors propose a scalable bandwidth allocation method based on a synchronous wireless mesh network with a directional antenna array. In the method, they give a weight factor to each node related to its depth in the topology, make proper arrangements of timeslots positions to avoid collisions and evaluate bandwidth requirements according to the traffic load strength.
