There is an increasing demand for applications about moving objects (e.g., humans, animals, cars, etc). The best way to develop robust and efficient software solutions consists in putting them on top of a spatiotemporal database storing the trajectories of the moving objects. Unfortunately, the database management systems today part of the companies' assets does not support this complex data. In this paper, the authors outline a solution that is feasible in the meantime a new generation of DBMSs will be made available to the community.
