In this paper, the authors propose an incremental manual deployment method for target coverage and node connectivity based on grid scan. The coverage level and connectivity level are proposed for the first time to characterize the desired coverage and connectivity degree. In coverage phrase, the grid where the sensor can cover the most targets with the best whole coverage level is selected to place the next sensor. In connectivity phrase, firstly, sensors generated in coverage phrase are divided into groups each of which is connected.
