ZigBee is a wireless technology which has been developed by the ZigBee alliance to overcome the limitations of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. ZigBee is developed on the top of IEEE 802.15.4 standard. It is designed for low-power consumption allowing batteries to essentially last forever. ZigBee technology takes full advantage of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and extends the capabilities of this new radio standard by defining a flexible and secure network layer that supports a variety of architectures to provide highly reliable wireless communication.
