In the field of Image processing, 3D reconstruction is the process of capturing the shape and appearance of real objects. An efficient 3D reconstruction algorithm generally enhances the capabilities of existing 2D or 3D face recognition process. Many algorithms for 3D reconstruction have been developed so far such as Shape from Shading (SFS), 3D morphable model and Structure from Motion (SFM). In this paper, a survey of above three approaches and a comparative analysis are presented.
