An ad-hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes equipped with wireless communication adapters; these nodes form a temporary network without the need of any existing network infrastructure. The frequent changes of the topology and node limitations such as energy resource and storage device and communication channel limitation add challenges on MANET issues. Research on mobile ad hoc networks has been focused primarily on routing issues and security. This paper provides an overview of issues for mobile ad hoc networks, distinguishing the threats on basic mechanisms and on security mechanisms. More studies are focused on this and this paper is a survey based on this.
