Routing is needed to find a path between source and destination and to forward the packets appropriately. Routing protocols are developed for the wired networks such as the wired internet are inadequate, as they not only assume mostly fixed topology but also have high overheads. This has lead to several routing proposals specifically targeted for ad hoc networks. An ad hoc network is a set of wireless mobile nodes forming a dynamic autonomous network through a fully mobile infrastructure.
