Network security is providing protection at the boundaries of an organization by keeping out intruders such as hackers. A \"Network\" has been defined as any set of interlinking lines resembling a net. For example, a network of roads, an interconnected system, a network of alliances. Simply a computer network is a system of interconnected computers. Since about 2000, people have started to realize that security failure is caused by bad incentives at least as often as by bad design. Systems are particularly prone to failure when the person guarding them does not suffer the full cost of failure. So, network security has become more and more important as people spend more and more time connected.
