Designing multi-hop protocols and implementing algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is an area of research. The concept of Swarm Intelligence (SI) presents various protocols suitable for field of WSNs and the intelligence of nature inspired techniques like that of bees proves to be an inspiration for working of nodes in different areas of applications. In this paper, the authors discuss the routing methods, SI, compare various classical and swarm intelligence based routing protocols for wireless sensor networks.
