A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is made up of self organizing, light weight sensor nodes whose main task is to cooperatively examine environmental conditions like vibration, temperature and pressure etc. and collect the information from the environment and send that information to the sink node. Transport layer protocols offer reliable data delivery as well as congestion control in wireless sensor networks. This paper firstly describes the functions of transport layer protocol. Then it presents the summary of some transport layer protocols on the basis of reliability and congestion control.
