Congestion control is a vital element of computer networks such as the Internet. It has been widely discussed in literature and experienced in reality that the lack of appropriate congestion control mechanism will lead to undesirable situations such as congestion collapse of a network. This paper mainly focuses on congestion control in wireless ad-hoc networks using active queue management. Congestion control keeps the system running pretty close to its rated capacity, even when faced with extreme overload. The active queue management mechanism implemented in the cluster head will control the packet drop probability which will provide an efficient queue management by selectively dropping packets when congestion is anticipated. So that TCP sender can reduce the transmission rate before an overflow occurs.
