Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) are characterized by highly speed nodes, highly dynamic topology and frequent link disconnections. This raises a number of challenges especially in the field of route discovery. In this paper, the authors introduce some existing routing protocols for VANETs that determine whether and how the paths are selected based on the considered parameters. Their approach is to list out the various available path discovery approaches from source to the destination and parameters to be used by them.
