Vertical Bell Laboratories lAyered Space Time (V-BLAST) is a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) wireless communication system that uses multiple antenna elements at transmit and receive to offer high spectral efficiency and increased capacity in a rich multipath environment without increasing the use of the spectrum. Whereas, the detection schemes employed in such systems are computationally expensive as the number of transmitting and receiving antennas increases. Reduction in computational cost is essential for time critical application of high speed packet transfer using MIMO for 3GPP and 3GPP-2 standards.
