Generally, quite a lot of studies on routing protocols suggest important performance enhancements on topology-based routing protocols. Several geographic routing schemes, assume that a forwarding node distinguish location of its neighbors. In this paper, the authors introduce a novel beaconing scheme for geographic routing protocol known as adaptive position update scheme that adjust frequency of position updates frequency on basis of mobility dynamics of nodes and forwarding patterns within network. The novel proposed scheme noticeably decrease update cost and get better routing performance regarding packet delivery ratio as well as average delay in assessing by periodic beaconing.
