An Efficient Algorithm for Minutia Feature Extraction Method
As an important feature of fingerprints, singular points (core and delta) not only represent the local ridge pattern characteristics, but also determine the topological structure (i.e. fingerprint type) and largely influence the orientation field. There are many methods proposed for reference point detection. But, the experimental results show that the present methods are less accurate on the fingerprint database which contains many poor-quality fingerprint images. However, many of the fingerprint identification/authentication algorithms is based on minutiae present in the finger print.
