Secure Routing has been one of the most critical technologies for Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs). Although many different routing schemes have been already designed for WMN, it is still not enough to meet the needs of different scenarios and applications. In this paper, the authors propose an Efficient and Secure Routing Protocol for Hybrid WMN environment (ESRPHWM), which exploits different cross layer parameters to select an optimum route based on route security. Moreover, ESRPHWM uses specific cryptographic mechanisms to protect authenticity and integrity of routing messages.
